Terms of Service
Welcome to Starward Path, operated by Or Soffer. By using this site you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy, which is part of them. They're short and written to be read. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
What Starward Path is. Starward Path publishes original stories as books, in one or more formats. The main format is video — narrated stories brought to life with moving imagery — and some books may also be offered as audio or in other formats. Books are divided into chapters, and some books belong to a series. Stories are fiction and may contain themes, language, or scenes that some people find intense or unsuitable for younger audiences; viewer discretion is advised.
Free chapters. The first chapter of every book is free for everyone, with no account needed. After you create an account, you may unlock the second chapter of one book for free, once. This applies to standalone books and to the first book of a series, not to later books in a series. It is a one-time promotional benefit per person, has no cash value, is not transferable, and cannot be claimed again by creating another account. We may change or withdraw free chapters at any time. Everything beyond that requires buying the book.
What you get when you buy. Buying a book gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to stream and watch or listen to its chapters on Starward Path, in the formats we make available, for your own non-commercial use, for as long as Starward Path operates and you comply with these terms. Books are licensed, not sold. We may modify, replace, or remove books, chapters, or formats at any time, and we don't guarantee that any book or format will remain available.
What you may not do. The stories, narration, imagery, and everything else on Starward Path are protected by copyright and other laws and belong to Or Soffer or his licensors. You may not record, screen-capture, download, copy, extract, redistribute, resell, publicly perform, or create derivative works from any part of a book; share your account or use anyone else's; create multiple accounts; use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access the site; or attempt to bypass chapter limits, payment, or other access controls. Doing so may end your access without refund.
Purchases and payments. Purchases are processed by Polar Software, Inc. ("Polar"), a US company that acts as merchant of record and authorized reseller of our books. When you buy a book, the sale itself is a transaction between you and Polar, governed by Polar's Checkout Buyer Terms; Polar charges your payment method, handles applicable taxes, issues receipts, and handles refunds, chargebacks, and disputes. Once Polar confirms your payment, we grant you the license described above. Prices are shown in US dollars and may change at any time. All sales are final and non-refundable — see the sales policy, which is the refund policy that applies to your purchase and also explains how withdrawal rights for digital content are handled where they apply.
Accounts. You must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to create an account or make a purchase. Provide accurate information, keep your sign-in method secure, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use; you're responsible for all activity on your account. We may refuse, suspend, or cancel accounts at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time by writing to us.
Suggestions and feedback. We love hearing story ideas and feedback, but the site has no user-posting features, and anything you send us — ideas, suggestions, comments — is voluntary and non-confidential. You agree that we may use it freely, for any purpose, without any obligation or compensation to you, and that you don't acquire any rights in our stories by suggesting something.
Third-party services. The site relies on third-party services (for example for sign-in and payment processing) and may link to other websites. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies; we don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
Copyright complaints. If you believe content on Starward Path infringes your rights, write to us with a description of the work, where it appears on the site, your contact details, and a statement made in good faith that you own the rights or are authorized to act for the owner. We'll review and respond.
Availability and changes. Starward Path is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue the site or any part of it at any time. You're responsible for the devices, software, and internet connection you use, and for any data charges. If a purchased book doesn't play or is incomplete, contact us and we'll work with you to resolve it. We may update these terms at any time by posting the new version here; continuing to use the site after that means you accept it.
Ending access. We may suspend or terminate your account or your access to any part of the site at any time if you breach these terms, without notice and without refund. You may stop using the site or delete your account at any time.
Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Starward Path and Or Soffer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law grants you and that cannot be waived.
Indemnification. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Or Soffer and Starward Path from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the site or its content, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Notices. We may send notices to the email address on your account or by posting on the site; electronic notices count as written notice. Keep your email address current.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and any dispute will be brought exclusively before the competent courts in Tel Aviv — except where the consumer law of your country of residence gives you protections or a forum you can't waive.
General. These terms and the policies they link to are the entire agreement between you and us about the site. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them to a successor of the business. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. We aren't liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. The sections on intellectual property, liability, indemnification, and governing law survive the end of your use of the site.
